January Socks

Well, I finished these right on schedule, but almost forgot to post.  Here are my January Socks:

Pattern: Blathnat by Irishgirlieknits
Yarn: Socks That Rock Lightweight in Lover's Leap
Needles: size 2.25 magic loop, two at a time

This was the January Mystery Sock for the SKA Group on ravelry and it was a lot of fun to knit.

January socks done !

These are my first finished knit for 2012 . The pattern is Skyp Rib socks by Adrienne Ku . I love this pattern , unfortunately the yarn doesn't do it justice . It's easy without being boring and makes a change from plain vanilla socks . Next time around I'll knit  it  with a solid or semi solid sock yarn . The yarn is Regia Jubilee colour , a nice sturdy  yarn . Best of all these are for me , yay !

Navy and Teal Plain Socks

I did not want to miss the first month of the year, so, I got very busy with the knitting of these socks. The yarn is Knitpicks Stroll. I used an afterthought heel.

I look forward to seeing lots of pretty socks and getting inspiration. Lyn

January socks

My mojo was really down this month, but I got it back in time to finish: Hourglass by Bev Elicerio in Pagewood Farm Yukon colorway Turquoise. These socks were a fun knit and the pattern is very striking in a semisolid colorway. Denise

A Fresh Start in January

I fell off the sock bandwagon at the end of the year, but I'm back on track now!  These are my first finished socks of the year, started and finished in January.  The pattern is Cotty by Irishgirlieknits and the yarn is Socks That Rock medium weight in the color River Rocked.  The only mod I made was to decreased the sole to 28 stitches to get a better fit.  Other than that, it is knit as written.  I love this pattern!

January Socks Are Done

They are Blauer Peter Socks by Monika Eckert. I found this pattern last week on Ravelry. I already had the yarn, hazel knits artisan sock yarn in Serenity, and knew they were supposed to go together.

I started them on Jan 22 and finished them yesterday. Fastest socks ever!

I love the variation in the patterns. The two borders around the front pattern are different, a section of traveling stitches on one side and two columns of crossed stitches on the other. The placement is mirrored on the two socks, keeping things interesting.

They were knit on two circular needles, size 2.25mm, my favorite for making socks. Here is a closeup of the front and back:

January Socks

Productive month, four pairs of socks. The orangey yarn is Phildar Hobby, and the other yarn is ONline Supersocke 100 Walking Color. First pair were vanilla socks for my oldest boy's birthday. 60st socks, heel over 30sts, toe to 20sts. Started January 3, finished the 9th. Details here.

Second pair were vanilla socks with a twist of 3x2 rib for change. These socks were for my youngest boy's birthday. I cast on 56sts and decreased one stitch after the cuff to 55sts to make the 3x2 rib work. Heel over 28sts to keep purl stitches on either side of the top of the foot. Cast on one stitch before toe shaping so I'd have 14-28-14 and graft the toe once I hit 20sts. Details here.

The other two pairs are ankle socks for a friends who prefers ankle socks. I used the leftovers from the first two pairs. Both are 60st vanilla socks, heel over 30sts, toe to 20sts, but the ONline leftovers I did 2x2 rib for something different. Details here.

Happy knitting!

I'm back in 2012 :)

Finnished a pair started in November, not quite happy with these at they twist on the foot, should probably have knit a different toe.

January Socks

Here are my January Socks...
Pattern: "Hearts": A Guernsey Pattern which I changed for my socks (unfortunately it turned out really badly)
Size: Ladies Size 9
Needle: Size 2.5
Yarn: Opal handyed "Antonia aus Tirol - Zeit für Harmonie" (which means "Time for Harmony")
("Antonia aus Tirol" is a famous german folk singer who designed different handdyed yarns! ;--))

Unfortunately you can´t see the heart-pattern because I didn´t pick the yarn carefully enough for such a beautiful and easy pattern. You can find it in here. Probably I will give them to my mum as a birthday present. ...I really love knitting gifts. That´s why I´m really looking forward to casting on the next pair right away.

January ---- Socks On Fire

January's sock-a-month:  Socks On Fire

The link for the pattern is a Rav. link.  You're all on Rav., right?  If not, you should be ---- greatest resource EVER for patterns and ideas.

So ---- back to the socks at hand --- the yarn is Arucania Ranco Multy (a discontinued yarn is what I'm hearing) ---- it's a single ply so sometimes it feels like it's going to pull apart.  Thankfully, it never does and my Ranco socks from the past have worn pretty well.

It does tend to felt --- wash by hand --- and it runs a little bit ---- so Ranco socks bathe alone.

Other than that --- I love them.  The pattern is a little challenging in a fun sort of way and the yarn is just the right color for socks on FIRE!

Now I'm off the the stash to see what pops out next.
