It never took me that long

...to knit a pair of socks. This time Trekking XXL Tweed in black was used. It seems the colour black and I can't get along with each other, as I had to frog several times... plus the yarn in the center of the ball was entangled. I had to puzzle the knots out and that made me grumpy for sure. 350 meters were used for a 10" foot size.

These socks were the bane of my existance last month!

True Blood inspired "PAM" - handpainted by Jen from Fresh from the Cauldron - Vampire Sock Club 2009. Pattern is River Rapid by Sock Bug.

I was very proud of myself with these socks - I finished sock #1 in 5 night shifts at work. I finished sock #2 in 3 night shifts. Some how I managed to loose sock #1! I sent emails out to coworkers who I was working with on my last shift if they seen a pink sock that did not have a foot attached to it. No such luck. I harassed the cab driver who drove me after work that night - nope he did not see it. So I sat down and finished sock #3 in three days - it was a feat as I have a 15 month old who learned how to walk during those days lol. And no sooner did i Kitchener stitch my toe, sock #1 turned up at work, tucked in a shoe. A coworker seen it on the floor, knew it was mine and tucked them into a pair of shoes that she thought were mine. So I frogged it and make a mini cup cake out of it.

I like to learn something new in terms of knitting with each project - this time two things - how to read a chart and to do long tail cast on.

July socks completed

My great friend Rebecca blessed me with some sock yarn recently - I made these out of the Opal yarn in Tutto. (In fact, she blessed me with enough yarn to do 3 pairs of socks! Don't you wish Rebecca was YOUR friend too!!!) Just a simple 3 x 2 ribbing. Green is my favorite color so who knows... I might have to keep these for myself!

Hope everyone has a blessed, safe, and very Happy 4th of July!!!

June - please

See you later socks

'J' is for Just in time!

After taking three months to get my March/May socks done, I figured I'd tackle a smaller project for June to make sure to get it finished, especially since a friend of mine just had a little boy earlier this month. Ha! Turns out it's a lot faster to knit a pair of the same old k2p2 rib adult socks than a pair of baby socks with a pattern stitch, even a simple one, and weird decreases that you've really got to pay attention to. Oh well, they're done anyway (blurry, but done) - and just in the nick of time. The pattern is a free one from Interweave Press' Knitting Daily website.

AND I got some absolutely fabulous prize yarn from Zonda and some great little no snag stitch markers (which came in very handy while doing those weird decreases, letmetellyou) after winning the random draw in May.

Thank you so much, Zonda and those responsible for the donations - the yarn is scrumptious, the card adorable, and all of it in perfect colours for me (as you can see by comparison with my favourite coffee mug and the colour of my computer).

June's Mother Lode

I had two weeks’ furlough from my job in June and got busy knitting socks from the stash. I completed Linda Welch’s Spring Forward (orange colorway), Monkey Toes’ Carolina (pinstripe colorway), and Anne Hanson’s Tesserae (blue colorway). Very pleased with Tesserae – great fit. Nearly ran out of yarn for Spring Forward, which is why the foot is in stockinette. And I can’t get Carolina over my heel – the chevron stitch doesn’t give at all; so that pattern won't be repeated.
