December Socks
Now that the holidays are essentially behind us, I'm enjoying getting back in the knitting groove! I started these November 1 for the SKA Mystery KAL. The pattern is Moody's Stockings by Erica Leuder and I used Skinny Bugga in Acmon Blue for them. They are for my oldest son's girlfriend for Christmas.

December Socks
So like many people, all my socks this month were for other people, as gifts. My brother requested a pair of heavy duty house socks, so I just used the Sock Knitters Handbooks to invent a toe-up pair of worsted weight socks for him. I did a standard wedge toe, short row heel with wraps, and fifteen rounds of 3X3 ribbing (on a 48 st sock). The stitch pattern is a 3 round repeat that was actually a dishcloth pattern I made awhile back, because he wanted something "like waffle weave." I used Cascade Yarns Eco Alpaca in charcoal for the body, and Nashua Handknits Julia yarn in Geranium for the heel, toe and cuff...what a great yarn! Too bad it's discontinued, but it's 50% wool, 25% alpaca, 25% mohair--the perfect balance, and much stronger than the 100% alpaca for the high wear areas. This is the best picture I could get, taken by my brother of his own feet:
I also finished a pair of socks for my sister, V Junkie from Socktupus, in Pagewood Farm Denali, colorway JF's Folly, but I don't have a picture of the completed socks. HERE is the half finished sock on the project page... I think it was the perfect colorway for the pattern, and they fit her well.
Happy Knitting!!

December Socks
Pointelle
The pattern on this pair is Pointelle from knit, sock, love by Cookie A. I knit them on US size 1, 2.25mm circular needles. The yarn is Charlemont Kettle Dye by Valley Yarns in burgundy. I really enjoy the challenge of knitting mirror image socks!
I tried to finish these for November, but I kept getting lost in the leaf pattern and had to rip out too many times. I love how they turned out, though.

Crazy Socks
These aren't the craziest socks I've ever knit, but they truly ARE crazy -- Zauberball Crazy (#1660).
So that's MY socks for December. I guess I'd better head to the stash and see what socks I should make for January! Maybe something icy blue!
Details:
Yarn: Zauberball Crazy
Colorway: #1660 (Earth)
Needles: Size 1-1/2 Hiya Hiya dpn
Pattern: Ann Norling #12 Adult Sock (but, it's basically just your plain ol' stockinette sock with a flap heel)

November Socks
So for November, I finished up my pair of Caret + Chevron socks that I did as a KAL on the Interweave forums. Yarn is Knit One Crochet Too Crock-o-Dye. The silk content makes for nice feeling but looser socks than I would like...these will be bed socks I think.
Happy Holiday Knitting everyone!!

November Socks
This isn't the greatest picture, but I forgot to take one of the socks before I gave them away. I had my SIL take a pic of the socks while being worn. They are the pink ones. The other ones I made are being worn under the footy pajamas, but they were already posted for Oct.

October Socks
These are Pulled Salt Water Taffy Socks by Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer. The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Desert Flower. I used size US 1 (2.5mm).
Close up view here.
Not my best pair of socks. I ordered the wrong color. This color is much brighter than I wanted. I also tried to match the start point, so the two socks would match. Obviously that didn't happen! But it was a fun pattern to knit.
They are bright and will keep me warm this winter.
October
I have two pair of socks for this month . The first ones were actually cast on in September but not finished till early October . They are some warm ski socks for DH . The pattern is Garter Rib from Sensational Knitted Socks .The yarn is Regia Highland Tweed . Mike is pretty happy with them .
The second pair are for me . It was love at first sight when I saw the colourway at my LYS . This was one of my few yarn purchases this year . I'm really work down some of the sock yarn stash . This is another Regia yarn , Ombre Stripe by Kaffe Fassett . The pattern is Jeck by Regina Satta . I really enjoyed knitting this pattern , thanks Regina !

October Socks
Two pairs completed for October, with two (one new...) pairs STILL on the needles. First, I finished my first pair of man socks after my husband had been badgering me:
Then I settled in to knitting the long-promised pair of 'gween socks' for my little girl, using leftovers from my previously posted Kai-mei socks and a little yellow mini skein I picked up at my LYS for $1. I used a single pattern repeat from the Dragonfly socks to make them more interesting. And getting a good picture of toddler feet is as difficult as getting a good picture of their smiles:

October Socks
It's been awhile. I lost my knitting/blogging mojo for quite awhile, but I think it is back. :-) At least I hope it is.
I finished a pair of simple stockinette socks for October.
Yarn: Regia Patch Antik
These will be a Christmas gift for DH. I knit on them last week while we are on vacation and he didn't suspect a thing. So, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...don't tell.

By the Skin of my Teeth September
Pattern: Haystacks by Lisa Stichweh
Yarn: Hazel Knits Artisan in Blue Spruce
Needles: 2.25mm
I finished these Sunday afternoon and I forgot to post them! Crazy because I have been a knitting fool for the last few days to finish these so that I would have completed my pair for the month. Then posted them in all the appropriate groups on Ravelry,...... and forgot the blog. So silly! Anyway, this was a fun and easy pattern and knits up pretty quickly due to lots of stockinette. I love that they are left and right socks to add a little fun and interest.

September Socks
I started this pair of socks in August, before my trip to London for the Paralympics. During the trip, I cast on two more socks, each of which I am now on the 2nd sock but simply couldn't finish due to knitting A.D.D. October is going to be a productive sock knitting month as a result, but this is all I have to show for September:
They are just Wendy Johnson's basic sportweight socks with gusset heel pattern (toe-up), intended to use up the two whole skeins of Knit Picks Felici sportweight I had. These will be fun socks, and I won't worry if someone accidently chucks them in the dryer!

September sparkly socks
Here's my socks for September . The pattern is called Murano by Christine Monnard and is free online at ravelry .It was a wonderful knit . The only modifications that I made were to change the heel from a short row heel to a heel flap because I'm really terrible at short row heels . These fit really well . The yarn was Berroco Sox metallic . I just love the glitter . Now to decide what next months sock knitting will be ...

September Socks
September socks are done, Moss Rocks by Debbie O'Neil, part of the Sock Sniper group games in Malabrigo, colorway Azules. Great pattern, I really like the ribbing, I think it would make really pretty cuffs on a sweater.

August Socks
I might be too late to post these, not sure. We were in a hotel for the night, and I tried six times to upload a picture from my phone and post these this morning, but there's no way it would work. So I gave up. We just got home about an hour ago, so I had to do it the normal way! Anyhoo, these are Escalator Socks in Kertzer On Your Toes 4 ply in blue heather. Knit on 2.25mm needles and big man foot size 13s, started August 1, finished the 31st. Ravelry details here with better pictures to follow tomorrow when I can take some outside.

August Socks Done!
Here is the pair of August socks I completed.
Lemon Grass Socks
Alas, only one pair this month. It was the month of the Big Wedding; my third oldest son married his long-time sweetheart. It was a most beautiful wedding! Next month my second oldest son and his wife are having a baby shower for their first child due in November and so I'm now spending much of my time knitting and quilting for the little one. What fun!

Just checking in!!
Hi Everyone!
As some of you may notice, I've been cleaning up the sidebars and if I deleted your name and blog access and you still want to play, no problem, just email me and I'll resend the invite.
What started out many years ago with over 200 knitters has dwindled to under 30 knitters. I have no problem moderating this group/KAL however long anyone wants to keep posting. :)
I'll keep sending out the prizes until they run out. In December, maybe we'll see if anyone wants to continue on. Sometimes things do have to come to an end, sometimes they can continue on. I'm here for you as long as I can be.
Thanks!!

August 2012 Socks!
August 2012,
I finished these toddler socks for my daughter on July 31, but I didn't weave the ends in or take pics until August 1:
The pattern is Triple T Socks, but I opted to add a small lace design just for grins. The yarn is Premier Yarn Serenity in Harlequin, a yarn I picked up before I actually learned how to knit socks and got obsessed with fancy yarns.
And for myself, I tackled my first Cookie A socks, the oft knit Kai-Mei, done in Mountain Colors Crazyfoot yarn, colorway Chinook:

Socks for August
These are Blanker Hans socks by Monika Eckert. This is the third pair of socks that I have knit that she has designed. They are often mirrored on the front, with a different pattern on the back. A bit challenging, but I like that.
I used Top Cat in Peony from Wandering Cat Yarns
I knit on two size 2.5 mm circular needles.
I love how the back pattern is different from the front, a checkerboard and stripes. Also the fronts are mirrored, which keeps me on my toes. (Pun intended!)
