Freeing Up my Needles!
I decided to play along this month with some of the knitters in the SKA group on Ravelry to try to free up some needles during the month of August. The new year of challenges begins tomorrow!
TTL Mystery Sock 08 by Kirsten Kapur. Knit in Skinny Bugga in colorway Cotton Stainer. I started these Sept. 4, 2010 and finished these this afternoon!
Raven Swirl Socks By Cookie A for the Rockin Sock Club. Knit with STR lightweight in colorway Blackbird. I started these in April 2010 and finished them Aug 4, 2012.
Queen of Beads by Sivia Harding, also a RSC pattern/yarn. Yarn is STR lightweight in colorway My Blue Heaven. I started these in January 2010 and finished them August 17.
Over the Rainbow socks by Lisa Dykstra. The yarn is Zen String Lotus Toes in color way Over the Rainbow. This was the Woolgirl Oz Club Over the Rinbow kit. I started these in July 2009 and finished them on August 26.
4 pairs of finished socks and 4 sets of free needles! The startitis could be ugly this weekend!

August Socks Done!
Here is the pair of August socks I completed.
Lemon Grass Socks
Alas, only one pair this month. It was the month of the Big Wedding; my third oldest son married his long-time sweetheart. It was a most beautiful wedding! Next month my second oldest son and his wife are having a baby shower for their first child due in November and so I'm now spending much of my time knitting and quilting for the little one. What fun!

August Socks
2 pairs of socks for August - Solfar by Cookie A in The Plucky Knitter colorway Vintage Refrigerator and Plain Old Car Knitted socks in Patons Kroy Socks FX colorway Cascade Colors
I just wanted to add a big THANK YOU to Zonda for hosting this KAL - I do hope we can continue, I find it a great motivator to finish at least 1 pair of socks each month, especially after seeing all the beautiful socks everyone else finishes! Denise

Just checking in!!
Hi Everyone!
As some of you may notice, I've been cleaning up the sidebars and if I deleted your name and blog access and you still want to play, no problem, just email me and I'll resend the invite.
What started out many years ago with over 200 knitters has dwindled to under 30 knitters. I have no problem moderating this group/KAL however long anyone wants to keep posting. :)
I'll keep sending out the prizes until they run out. In December, maybe we'll see if anyone wants to continue on. Sometimes things do have to come to an end, sometimes they can continue on. I'm here for you as long as I can be.
Thanks!!

August 2012 Socks!
August 2012,
I finished these toddler socks for my daughter on July 31, but I didn't weave the ends in or take pics until August 1:
The pattern is Triple T Socks, but I opted to add a small lace design just for grins. The yarn is Premier Yarn Serenity in Harlequin, a yarn I picked up before I actually learned how to knit socks and got obsessed with fancy yarns.
And for myself, I tackled my first Cookie A socks, the oft knit Kai-Mei, done in Mountain Colors Crazyfoot yarn, colorway Chinook:

Socks for August
These are Blanker Hans socks by Monika Eckert. This is the third pair of socks that I have knit that she has designed. They are often mirrored on the front, with a different pattern on the back. A bit challenging, but I like that.
I used Top Cat in Peony from Wandering Cat Yarns
I knit on two size 2.5 mm circular needles.
I love how the back pattern is different from the front, a checkerboard and stripes. Also the fronts are mirrored, which keeps me on my toes. (Pun intended!)

August toddler socks
Plain ribbed toddler socks, no pattern. Dark green superwash wool, sock weight, needles size 3,5 mm, 32 stitches. Super easy and super quick! Cast on and bound off all in a matter of hours.
Nice weekend to all!
